100 EV Charging Stations On Delhi

The Delhi government is taking a major step towards promoting electric vehicles in the city by establishing 100 EV charging stations at various metro stations, bus depots, and other locations. The initiative, launched under the flagship program of the Delhi government, aims to strengthen the city's EV charging infrastructure and promote the adoption of electric vehicles.

Recently, Delhi Power Minister Atishi reviewed the progress of the project along with officials from the power department. During the meeting, she directed the officials to proactively address any issues arising in the installation of EV charging stations and ensure that 50 of them are ready by the end of April, and all 100 are operational by the end of July.

The minister emphasized that the efforts of the Kejriwal government have made Delhi emerge as the electric vehicle capital of the country, and the establishment of 100 EV charging stations will further strengthen the city's EV charging infrastructure.

The charging stations are being established on a public-private partnership (PPP) model, and the cost of charging per unit will be the lowest not only in the country but also in the world, with people having to spend less than Rs. 3 per unit for EV charging. This move will make charging affordable and convenient for people across the city, encouraging them to switch to electric vehicles.

The Delhi government had issued the country's largest tender in this sector last year, indicating its commitment to promoting electric vehicles in the city. The cost of charging per unit at these charging stations is even less than Rs. 3 per unit, making it an attractive option for electric vehicle owners.

At present, Delhi has the highest percentage of electric vehicle sales in the country, with 16.7 percent of the total vehicles sold in the capital in December 2022 being electric vehicles. With the demand for electric vehicles increasing rapidly among people in Delhi, the establishment of 100 EV charging stations in the city will ensure that people have enough charging stations available around them and do not face any problems related to charging.

The establishment of these charging stations is a significant step towards reducing air pollution in the city and promoting sustainable transportation. The Delhi government's initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the environment and encourage people to switch to electric vehicles, contributing to a cleaner and greener future for the city.
